I'm a mom, wife, yogi and hiking guide living a healthy, balanced life....some days it's easy, some days it's not!
In 2008, I was 30 kgs overweight, weighing in at 86 kgs (190 lbs). I was depressed, anxious and just not loving the life I was living. I was sedentary most of the day at my office job and when I got home, I’d ‘emotional’ eat anything I could get my hands on (mostly convenient, packaged food like chips, chocolate – anything in a box that didn’t require cooking really!). I hardly had any energy to run around playing games with my kids even though that's what I wished I could do all day while day dreaming of the life I wanted.
This photo was taken on my 29th birthday, I was ready to make a change.
One night, my husband (who was also quite overweight) and I decided that was it, we’d had enough and wanted to change our lives. We knew it would be tough and made a vow to each other that no matter what, we would support each other and change…one year later, we both completed our first Ironman Triathlon and had lost all the extra weight we were carrying and felt amazing! Now, I’m not saying you need to go and do Ironman like we did, in hind sight, that was a little crazy but we survived to tell the tale and have been loving the journey we’ve been on since then.
In 2009, I quit my day job and became a full time personal trainer and have never looked back. Over the last 9 years, I’ve helped transform the lives of hundreds of clients (both male and female) guiding them through their health, fitness and wellness goals one step at a time. I’ve started, run and sold two very successful fitness businesses and have been on a mission to learn about fitness and nutrition every day!
It certainly hasn’t been an easy ride, 3 years ago I lost sight of who I was and reverted back to eating badly, not exercising and I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Hypothyroidism. I’m also a sufferer of PTSD. After a lot of soul-searching and amazing support from my husband and kids, I’ve managed to get myself off all medications and keep all my health issues under control by living a balanced lifestyle again and just slowing down. I believe having these conditions has made me a better health coach and really taught me to be in tune with my mind-body connection. I’m not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, I’m human and I learn something new about myself and my clients pretty much every day.
What do I do every day? Well, I'm a part-time hiking guide in Hong Kong where I live, yoga teacher (and lifelong yoga student!), health & wellness coach, first aid & CPR teacher and of course - a mom and wife! I'd say my days are pretty jam-packed so if I can live a healthy, balanced life - so can you!
My goal is to help my clients get the most joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment out of every day of their life – I’m committed to being of service and helping YOU live your dreams!
